Cat and Dog neutering:
A somewhat controversial topic to discuss. But a necessity to avoid health complications in the long term. This is a service provided on an elective and appointment basis. A pre-op check to make sure the animal is healthy then helps us schedule the surgery. We look forward to making your journey through this decision making as informative as possible.
We strongly believe that responsible cat ownership is synonymous with spay and neuter procedures. Therefore we have compiled some of the most frequently asked questions here to help you learn more about this important service.

What Is Cat Neutering?
Cat neutering refers to the castration, or the removal of the testicles of a male cat so that he cannot impregnate a female cat. Only a veterinary surgeon can properly and safely perform cat neutering surgery.
Cat neutering surgery includes the following procedures:
- Multimodal analgesic (pain) and anti-anxiety (calming) medications
- Your veterinarian will use general anesthesia for the procedure to avoid any discomfort felt by the cat
- The attending veterinary team monitors his breathing and heart rate oxygen levels, blood pressure, plane of anesthesia, and overall health during the anesthetic procedure
Because chemicals found in the bloodstream can also correlate with specific organs, lab work for dogs can help determine more than just blood count. For example, if dog blood tests show a deficiency in albumin levels, then a veterinarian knows to examine the dog's liver because albumin is produced in the liver
Lab work for dogs can also detect and help to identify complex problems with body systems. For example, blood tests for dogs can detect abnormal hormonal-chemical responses to environmental and internal stimuli, which alerts a veterinarian to a potential issue with the dog's endocrine system.
